Ordered a small square pizza to go. Ham Italian Sausage Double Sauce First things first, the gal that took the order was super kind-sweet-bubbly She also happened to be the gal that fetched the carryout, super KIND! The pizza was very good, unique in taste, plenty of sauce & toppings! The square crust had a nice edge-taste to it!

I think I'm being generous with 2 stars. I ordered chicken parm, the sauce was definitely good Ole ragu, everything was very bland no seasoning what so ever. My fiancé had the filet and Cajun shrimp. The shrimp were good however the steak was chewy and overcooked on one side. For the prices they charge, you would think everything would be cooked to perfection. The staff was very pleasant however, I won't be returning.

I've been to Big Al's several times over the years. The food has always been pretty good, I can't remember anything specific about the service, so I'll go with consistent. I was even glad my sister suggested it for an Easter lunch with my family. Once there, we were greeted at the door by, who turned out to be our waitress, and she wasn't very friendly, bordering on snippy, even slamming our side plates, and bread down on the table....when we asked her if everything was okay, she exclaimed that the plates were heavy and they kind of fell out of her hands and hit the table....no worries...and the service did get better from that point. They do have amazing bread with a special homemade butter, dipping sauce, that they don't skimp on, and give you more when asked. The problem I had with this place this past Sunday was the Salad bar, and it's disgusting plates they have. So gross... Now, all the plates were wet, so I'm assuming just out of the washer...but they had a nasty film all around the edges. EVERY PLATE had this, when I brought it to their attention, a server or hostess came back, with the plate I had just given her, as if to say, here it's clean now, I showed her, that it was not, as I scratched the scum off the plate! SO NASTY! These were plastic salad dishes, that had obviously seen WAY better days... We grabbed a couple of glass side plates instead to get some salad items. Honestly, this kind of turned my stomach a bit, nothing felt really appetizing after this.....all I could think about were those plates. OH!!! I almost forgot....DIRTY BLEACH WATER STANK!!! EVERYWHERE!! God, I hate when restaurants do this... All you could smell throughout this place on Sunday was that dirty bleach water smell...GROSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!! I don't know... I'm not going to be going back to Big Al's anytime soon. They may have been good years ago, but no more :(

They have great Pizza! We sit at the bar to eat. I dont think they have the friendliest staff in the dining room. One in particular has been there to long and looks tired and acts crabby. But we like their food. Their bread is very yummy. Whi cares if its served in a bag! Adequate salad bar and a big variety of food on the menu. Just the wait staff needs to put some smiles on their faces and act like they love their job.

The food was really good, especially the cod and ribs. The wait was kind of long for a Sunday night but the service was great. My only complaint is the lack of waiting space. It was unusually small, especially since we had my grandpa with us who is in a wheelchair. I can imagine it would be inconvenient if there was a long wait and the weather did not permit you to wait outside.

Looks great from the outside, very tired inside needs a facelift bad, PRETTY NASTY !!! No one has put any money in this place in a long time. The bar area is pretty sad. Bartender was making herself a drink. Pizza was good, lettuce on salad bar was warm. :( .... Owners office right by the restrooms, you can see him counting cash as you go by, very tacky. Owner walks around the place, but no interaction with customers, (how was your dinner) I guess he does not want to know. This was our first time there, I know we will not be back.

We live in the area and used to come here all the time. I always thought they were pricy for the quality of food they serve because I am a foodie. We decided to stop here because where we were going to go had a very long wait. When we pulled up there were very few cars. This place used to spill into the plaza they were so busy. Once inside I understand why no one comes here. The place is a dump and smelled horrible! Looking at the food coming out while waiting for my husband to park and come inside I left. I'm sorry but I won't eat at dirty establishments or eat food that looked like a bunch of teenagers made it not a chef!

I am currently sitting in Big Al's. It's not my first time here but it has been years. I started with the French onion soup which wasn't the flavor bomb I'd hoped for, It was slightly boring but still edible. My waiter is friendly though I had to remind him to bring my ranch and ask for napkins/silverware. My entree was a bleu cheese burger that came with fries, both of these parts were fantastic. I am very cozy sitting in here and my water has been refilled at all of the appropriate times. I'll be back for more.

This place is a shit hole. The so called bread basket came in a carry out bag. The Margarita I order tasted like a moldy Capri sunwith a bunch of sugar added to it. The pizza tasted good but the overall smell of the place made me think of dirty feet. Please don't go here, pay me instead and I'll give you better food and service at my house.

We have been to Big Al's probably 10 times in the past 5 years. My mom goes more often with her friends. Their pizza is pretty good and so is the broasted chicken. The ribs are really greasy everytime my son orders them he hopes for the best...but there is just so much grease. Here's the part the I really need to say....Al is a CHEAP-O! Big Time! He advertises Coca Cola on the menu but when I ordered it, it was bitter and flat. The server told us that it is not actually Coca Cola, but a knock off cheaper version. Don't advertise a product you do not actually serve. Also, if you want sour cream for your baked potato...yep a 50 cent charge goes on your bill. If you want to substitute the salad bar instead of a dinner salad, NOPE server says no, we ask them to check and the server says, sure for an extra $4 bucks. I can see $2.50, but $4 bucks REALLY? One night we were in there and my mother's dinner was burnt to a crisp, the server said she would make it right....then out comes a whole new dinner, again, burnt to a crisp. Then Al comes by and says, "well order something different". That's it? We were done eating when my mom's dinner finally came out. Al did absolutely NOTHING, not even a complimentary dessert, not 10% off for our spoiled dinner, NOTHING! I gotta say that it bothers me so much that Al is so darn CHEAP, I am done going into this establishment. If you must go, remember any deviation from his menu and there is an added charge. And do NOT order a "coke"....save your $2 dollars it is absolutely dreadful tasting.

I used to come here all the time when my parents owned a business in the plaza behind The Firehouse. I always loved the food and the comfortable atmosphere. That was over ten years ago though and I moved away. I am since back in the area and decided to treat my fiance to dinner after shopping. This is not the good little spot I remember from years ago. Our waitress was a young girl who must have been handed everything in life because waiting on a table seemed to be the ultimate chore for her. And my fiance and I are super easy people to deal with. We don't ask for extra this, none of that, do you have this, etc. We are famously low maintenance and always polite despite unsatisfactory experiences. So right off the bat this girl's attitude was unprofessional and a turn off. Whatever though. I'll reflect that in her tip I decided. Onto the food. The bread was warm and delicious as I remembered so that was good. Fiance and I both ordered the salad bar to start. The actual salad bar looked dirty with pieces of food everywhere, spilled dressing and the glass guard looked like it was cleaned with a dirty rag and half a$$ed at that. I firmly believe that restaurants with salad bars should have an attendant to keep it filled and clean at all times. Maybe the bus boy could make it a point to check it out on every return trip to the kitchen and keep it nice? Something needs to happen there. While still at the salad bar I caught an accidental glimpse into the kitchen and let me tell you it was vile. Absolutely revolting. I realize restaurant kitchens are messy and the floors are often shady but this was beyond that. A bunch of teenagers were back there laughing and being loud and wearing clothes that looked like they were just pulled out of a landfill. Scraps of half eaten food, inexplicable grime and dirty utensils were all along the counters and dark, nasty water (probably used to clean the tables and salad bar glass guard) was just everywhere!!!! Wet on the floor and also in a plastic tote-like container....don't know what that was for but it was black water around the food nevertheless. Unfortunately, having seen the kitchen I was not hungry anymore. I picked at my garlic bread and salad and cut up my food to make it appear that I was eating at least some of it. (Didn't want fiance to feel bad that I wasn't enjoying my dinner). One of the enormous meatballs in my baked spaghetti dish was still frozen in the center. Good thing I was just cutting it and moving it around my plate or I would have felt the need to vomit had I bit into it. Despite the disgusting kitchen image, my fiance's bbq chicken & redskins looked pretty good. The attitudinal waitress took forever to come by our table to refill our drinks and check on us but when it was time to pick up my credit card she was right there and suddenly had a forced chipper personality. I really despise that. Where were you the entire time? Where was your smile and professionalism? Now that you're about to get a tip you decide to be courteous? Normally I over tip but I made it a point to under tip. Drastically. If you hate people then go work somewhere else. Paying to have to dinner should absolutely include proper ambiance and staff. Sorry, Big Al but I will not be back. It's a shame. I only write reviews if I've had a really good or really bad experience. This one was sadly the latter.

Déjà vu - pronounced /desa vu/ , "already seen"; is the experience of feeling sure that one has witnessed or experienced a new situation previously (an individual feels as though an event has already happened ). The term was coined by a French psychic researcher, Émile Boirac (1851-1917). But is it really Déjà vu when in fact you have already been there? That is the case with Big Al's Firehouse. When I moved out into northern Macomb county in the 80's. Big Al was there and I have been there several times. But like a goldfish in a bowl, Big Al's is off my beaten track so I just kind of forgot about them. What a shame too as the ribs here are really great. A contender for best in Macomb County. Big Al perfected his Rib recipe cooking for the guys at a firehouse when he was a fireman. Hence the name Big Al's Firehouse is not a stretch, but rather a reference to his beginnings. The tender meaty bones are smoked with his secret dry rub and slathered with a rich tangy sauce. A full slab of baby backs comes with two sides and will cost a reasonable 20 bones. The menu is extensive and varied. Steaks, lasagna, burgers, sandwiches and a large salad bar. I saw a wrap sandwich that looks the size of a small football. Note to self... Don't want to forget about this one again... Good thing I now have Yelp to remind me.

The one and only visit to this dump. friends told me that the firehouse had the best food and great service. I could not tell you how good the food is because we never got to eat. We sat down and ordered drinks. We never did get to talk to the server after that, another person ended up serving our drinks and when we said that we were ready to order, the server said that I will get you your server I am just helping her out. My friend ordered a margarita and they served it in a martini glass, what a joke. We sat for twenty minutes and did not get a server. When I did see her, she was sitting at table with people that were getting star treatment. We laid money on the table for the drinks and we got up and left. this is where we got the most attention beause the server got up and asked us if we were going to pay for the drinks, I told her the money was on the table and she turned her back to me and went to the table, I then yelled to her that this was the worst restaurant ever. the next day I called the manager and explained to him what happened but he was a complete jerk and said that I should take my business somewhere else. NEVER COMING BACK TO THIS DUMP
